“Blooming Where We Are Planted”

Posted in General Blog Post at 2:52 pm by Pastor Don

Dear Friends:

As a college biology student turned pastor, I continue to dabble in the out-of-doors.  Gardening and getting my hands dirty is enjoyable.  Lately, I’ve been planting mums.  I like to purchase mum plants that have only the buds, and no produced flowers.  I’ll put them in the Church garden, water them, and let God’s sunshine do the trick.  I’ll leave it up to them to bloom where they are planted.

So it is with us.  We can’t always decide on everything that happens to us.  But we do have a choice on blooming where we are planted.  As Charles Swindoll states, life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.  In other words, God allows me much more latitude than my mums on whether or not I’m going to bloom where I am planted.

God gives us the grace to do just that, bloom where we are planted.  The Church aids in the process of helping us do that.  I invite you to come and grow with us at Normandale Hylands Untied Methodist Church, as together you and I bloom where we are planted.

Your Friend,

Pastor Don

Dear Friends:

Recently, I ran across a prayer that said:

So far today, God, I’ve done all right.  I haven’t gossiped, haven’t lost my temper, haven’t been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or over-indulgent.  I’m really glad about that.  But in a few minutes, God, I’m going to get out of bed and from then on I’m probably going to need a lot more help.  Thank you.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

We all need help, don’t we?

NHUMC exists in the name of Jesus to offer a home, a hope, and a help.  As this is done, may the Christ in me see the Christ in thee.  Have a good day!

Your friend,

Pastor Don Eslinger
